“Irene Mary-Pia Schollmeier Ware, 55, of Merlin died Wednesday, Jan. 26, 2011, at her home after a long battle with cancer.A celebration of her life to be held at Calvary Lutheran Church will be announced at a later date. Interment will be at Eagle Point National Cemetery. In lieu of cards and flowers, contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, 31 W. Sixth St., Medford, OR 97501; or to Asante Hospice, 2960 Doctors Park Drive, Medford, OR 97504; or to a hospice of the donor’s choice.Ware was born Aug. 13, 1955, in Gettysburg, S.D., to Linus and Abbie Schollmeier. She grew up in Minneapolis, Minn., where she earned a bachelor’s degree in education. She taught for a while before entering the business world and had a long career in mortgage lending.On Oct. 13, 1982, she married Stephen Ware, who survives. They moved to Findlay, Ohio, where she was employed by Diamond Savings and Loan Company and was promoted to vice president of loan servicing. After moving to Oregon in 1998, she worked as a graphic artist, credit manager and human services specialist with the state of Oregon, Department of Human Services. She especially enjoyed her job with DHS, helping seniors and disabled adults.She enjoyed gardening and crafts, especially stained glass. She also was an accomplished artist with acrylic, pen and ink, and pencil.In addition to her husband, survivors include two sisters, Jane of Stockholm, Wis., and JoAnn of Moore, Idaho; and two brothers, Paul of Las Vegas, and David of Renton, Wash.
