“Johnathan Ware was born in Fairfield County Ohio, Feb~22~1822. Died Nov~12~1899 aged 77 years 8 months and 20 days. He was united in marriage to Clarissa Bennett 9~August~1854 in Selby Co Ohio. They had 4 children. He was a sufferer more of less for a number of years and 24 hours before his death his suffering was intense. He leaves two sons and several grandchildren to mourn his loss. His wife and two children preceded him upon that voyage from whence no traveler has ever returned.
The deceased came to McPherson county 26 years ago and settled on the farm where he died. Thus one by one the old landmarks are removed, reminding us ‘That here we have no abiding city.’ He united with the Evangelical Association about 8 years ago, remained a member and consistent Christian until called from the labors and sufferings of this present life to bliss and rewards of the faithful.
A large concourse of neighbors and friends gathered at the funeral services to pay the last tribute to one who had been with them so long. Services were held at Centennial School House, conducted by the Pastor.
