“Joyce Vaughn Ware, 80, died Sunday Oct. 31 at her home in Lafayette, Ind.
Born Dec. 7, 1929 in Georgetown she was the daughter of the late Suter and Ruth Hudson Vaughn. Raised in Georgetown, she obtained her Bachelor’s degree from University of Kentucky.
She married the late L. Luke Ware on June 8, 1952. Their life together was spent in Richmond, Ind. where she was active in the local civic theatre.
She was a lifelong member of the Episcopal Church and served on the alter guild of St. Paul’s.
An accomplished seamstress, she was a long-time supporter of the Richmond Art Association.
The Wares are well-remembered for their annual Derby party, as well as other numerous endeavours.
Survivors include her sister, Vivian Sue Jarworski (Glenn); daughter Jane A. Ware Barnes (David) of Layfayette; daughter-in-law, Kimberly Ware; grandchildren Alyson Bradley-Ware (Alex), Tarleton Luke Ware, Sally Ann Ware and Benjamin David, Keith Luke, Brian Boyde and Jackson Raleigh Barnes.
She was preceded in death by Tarleton Vaughn Ware in 2002 and her brother Ablert Allen Vaughn.
Funeral service was 1 p.m. Friday, Nov. 5 at Georgetown Cemetery. Memorial contributions can be made to the American Diabetes Association.”
