“Philip Avon Ware, 50, Mallory Court, Cranston, R.I., retired as a New Smyrna Beach fire-fighter, died unexpectedly at home Friday, June 9, 2006.
Mr. Ware formerly lived on Turnbull Bay Road, New Smyrna Beach, before moving to Rhode Island in 2001. He was the husband of Donna (Burnell) Ware.
Born Sept. 1, 1955, in New Smyrna Beach, he was a son of the late Everett and Norma (Loftus) Ware. A Navy veteran of the Vietnam War, Mr. Ware later was a firefighter with the city of New Smyrna Beach, for 25 years before retiring in 2001. During his firefighting career he also worked at Ropp’s Automotive. In 2005, he graduated from New England Technical Institute in Rhode Island with a degree in network engineering. He was currently working as a field engineer with the Fujitsu Corporation. Mr. Ware was an avid reader and loved shrimping, fishing, surfing, softball and music.
In addition to his wife, he leaves two daughters and sons-in-law, Jennifer and Steve Smith, Agoura Hills, Calif., and Danielle and George Carpenter, Riverside, R.I.; grandchildren, Connor and Caitlyn Carpenter; and two sisters, Betty Allen, New Smyrna Beach, and Joy Gasparick, Pace.
Graveside service with military honors will be 2 p.m. Thursday, June 15 at Quidnessett Cemetery, Post Road, North Kingstown, R.I. The family respectfully requests memorial donations to American Diabetes Assn.,222 Richmond St., Suite 204, Providence, RI 02903.
