“Vera Elizabeth Ware, age 91, of Topeka, Kansas, died Thursday, April 28, 2011, at Topeka Presbyterian Manor in Topeka, Kansas. She was born on Thursday, August 14, 1919, in Franklin County, Kansas, the daughter of Arthur Ray and Carrie Elizabeth (Landis) Stevenson.

Vera was a lifelong resident of Franklin County until moving to Topeka in the early 1990’s.

Vera was a homemaker and worked four years in housekeeping at Martin Hall from1977 until 1981 at Ottawa University.

On February 25, 1938, Vera was united in marriage with Richard H. “Dick” Ware in Ottawa, Kansas. He preceded her in death on September 16, 1993.

She is survived by her: Daughter-Julia Bevan and her husband, Tommy, of Topeka, Kansas; Daughter-Lois Ware of Topeka, Kansas; Granddaughter-Sara Renee Morgan and her husband, Kyle, of Topeka, Kansas; Gt.Grandsons (3)-Jacob Michael Brown, Andrew Thomas Brown, Taylor Zane Brown, all of Auburn, Kansas; Brother-Wesley Ray Stevenson of Owasso, Oklahoma; Brother-Thomas Eldon Stevenson and his wife, Joyce, of Ottawa, Kansas and a Sister-Eleanor A. Page and her husband, Kenneth, of Lane, Kansas.

She is preceded in death by: Husband-Richard H. “Dick” Ware

SERVICES: Funeral services will be held from the Dengel & Son Mortuary in Ottawa at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, May 4, 2011.

IN STATE: Mrs. Ware will lie in state after1:00 p.m. Tuesday to the service hour at Dengel & Son Mortuary. Family will meet with friends from 1:00 to 2:00 Wednesday afternoon prior to services. ”
