“Lyle Chesley Ware, 83 a Longtime Valley Head Fire Chief, passed away at 9;48 p.m.
Tuesday, Dec.6, 2005, in the emergency department of the Davis Memorial Hospital.
He was born Feb. 27, 1922 at Valley Head, a son of the late Jesse Ware and Lillie May Simmons Ware.
On Dec. 5, 1945, in Elkins, he was married to the former Aluna Jean Waybright, who Preceded him in death on Jan. 26,2004
Surviving are two sons, Randall Lyle Ware and Edwin Lynn Ware, both of Valley Head; an adopted son, Danny Bamber; three daughters, Jo Ellen Hogan of Wesley Chapel, Florida, Penny Kay Ware of Valley Head and Ronetta Reed of Fredricksburg, Va., eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren also survive.
Preceding him in death were two daughters, Judith Ann Ware and Karen Louise Arbuthnot; three brothers, Kessler, Oral and Arlo Ware; and a sister, Eracelle Cutright.
Lyle was a coal miner having worked for Grafton Coal Co. and Bethlehem Steel. He was a member of the Valley Head Volunteer Fire Department where he served as fire chief for 47 years. He was a member of the Randolph Co. Fireman’s Association, the West Virginia Fire Chief’s Association and the Water Board.
Ware was instrumental in the formation of the Valley Head Library and ambulance service in the area. He was a member of the Valley Head United Methodist Church.
Friends may call from 5-8 p.m. today, Dec. 10, at the Tomblyn Funeral Home in Elkins. On Sunday, Dec. 11, he will be moved to the Valley Head United Methodist Church where friends may call from 1-2 p.m., the funeral hour.
Pastor Robert Baer, Rev. Richard Crickard and Rev.Walter H. Blough will officiate and interment will follow in the Valley Head Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Valley Head Fire Department, P.O. Box 7, Valley Head Wv.26294 in memory of Mr. Ware.”
