“Silas Ware, Jr., 68, of Hastings, died, Oct. 1, 2003 at Flagler Hospital following a brief illness. Mr. Ware was born August 11, 1935 in Waverly, Ga., to the late Mr. and Mrs. Silas Ware, Sr.
He moved to Florida in 1948 and he was united in wedlock to Miss Annie Reed in 1958. He was a contract farmer for many years. He was a member of Gethsemane Missionary Baptist Church, a member of the Male Chorus, the C.B. Club of Hastings, the Quarterback Club of Hastings and a member of the Masonic Lodge of Hastings.
Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Saturday at The Lord’s Temple City of Refuge Church, Thomas Cave III, pastor. Elder Jimmie Lewis, officiating, pastor of Holy Church of Zion, Elkton. Burial will follow at Gethsemane Cemetery, Federal Point Rd. Viewing is from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Coleman’s Chapel and from 10 a.m. until the hour of service at the church.
He is survived by his loving and devoted wife, Annie L. Ware, Hastings; four sons, Benjamin Reed, Ocean City, N.J., Otis Ware, Bell, Fla., Silas Ware, Palatka, Aldwin Ware, Tallahassee; two daughters, Lois Lewis, and Brenda Ware, both of Hastings; two sisters, Gertrude Steward, Austin, Texas and Nellie Shannon, Fort worth, Texas; 21 grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews, cousins and sorrowing friends.
Coleman’s Mortuary is in charge of the arrangements.”
