“Thomas C. Ware was born at the Bellevue house in Wares Wharf, Virginia and was the son of E. Macon Ware & Susan (Croxton) Ware.

On June 22, 1910 he married Sue Peterson in Baltimore, Maryland. At the time he was living in Lexington, VA and worked as a pharmacist/druggist.

In the mid-1910s, he opened a pharmacy in Falls Church, VA with his half-brother. After his half-brother returned from WWI, Tom sold his share of the pharmacy to him.

By 1920, he was living in Tappahannock, VA. He delivered dry goods for his uncle’s grist mill. He inherited the mill after his uncle’s death in 1924.

He married Ann Elizabeth Meek on December 26, 1924.

While driving home in bad weather, he wrecked his car & ended up catching pneumonia from lying out in the cold. This eventually led to his death.

He is buried in the family cemetery on the old Bellevue property.”
