Donald Ray Ware Obituary, 2010

“Donald Ray ( Doc) Ware the son of Ray and Olie Shakes Ware was born in Brewer, Arkansas on March 18, 1938 and passed away at Greers Ferry, Arkansas on October 8, 2010 at the age of 72 years.

Doc was a heavy equipment operator and member of Local 9 Operating Engineers of Denver, Colorado. He worked in construction and was the ferry operator of Greers Ferry Lake after a tornado destroyed the Edgemont Bridge in Greers Ferry. He was the Fire Chief of Greers Ferry Fire Department for 14 years and he enjoyed deer hunting with his family and grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents Ray and Olie Shakes Ware, 2 brothers and 1 sister Elma Jean Cornett. He is survived by his former wife Willie Dean Ware of Heber Springs, 2 sons Charlie Ware and wife Beth of Greers Ferry and Don Ware and wife Kitty of Greers Ferry, a brother Ony Ware of Clinton, 2 nephews Shawn Ware of Clinton and Terry Davis of Indiana and a niece Sherry Ware Sanders of Searcy, 8 grandchildren Nicholas Ware of Greers Ferry, Jacob Ware of Conway, Nicole Ellis of Fayetteville North Carolina, Allen Ware of Greers Ferry, Shannon Dew of Washington D. C., Chris Ware of Greers Ferry, Heather Ware of Greers Ferry and Billy O’Neal of Greers Ferry, a special friend Ann Riles and other relatives and many friends.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, October 10 from 5:00 until 8:00 PM at the Greers Ferry Missionary Baptist Church and funeral services will be held on Monday, October 11 at 2:00 PM at the Brewer Church with interment in Brewer Cemetery. The family request memorials to your favorite charity.”
