Alexander Ware (1821 – 1906)

“Alex was the son of James Ware Jr. and Lettice (nee Ware) Ware. He married Cynthia Jane Deupree on Dec. 16 1845 in Floyd county Ga. She was the daughter of Joseph & Caroline Spratling Deupree . Alex and Cynthia came to Texas mid 1850’s, traveling by covered wagon from Macon , Ga. to Mobile Alabama where they got on a ship and landed in Galveston; first settling in the current Livingston area . They are documented in Henderson County by 1858 . They had 11 children . The Adjutant General’s records indicate Alex enlisted as a private in Company D , 13th Texas Infantry, Confederate States Army , on Sept. 25 1863 at Athens Texas.”
