Bessie L. (Ware) Merrill, 62, of Jackman, Maine, and formerly of Manchester, died Monday, July 16, 2001, at the Community Hospice House in Merrimack after a battle with cancer. She was born Sept. 8, 1938, in Chester, daughter of Mildred (Estes) Ware of Londonderry and the late Lawrence Ware. Mrs. Merrill was the wife of Harold F. Merrill of Jackman. She volunteered for many community projects, including reading to young children in an elementary school, visiting the elderly in nursing homes, working in a major food ministry in Maine and recently was involved in starting a library for her church in Jackman. She enjoyed several types of crafts, including knitting, crocheting and embroidery, and she also enjoyed walking, reading, music and time at her computer. Mrs. Merrill was predeceased by her oldest daughter, Sherry Bubelnick. Besides her mother and her husband, survivors include a son, Tyler Hartford of Nashua; two daughters and a son-in-law, Justine Hemeon and Ynita and Daniel Thompson, all of Manchester; a brother, Clarence Ware of Chester; three sisters, Beverly Witham of Deerfield, Darlene Stone-Braley of Londonderry and Wanda Goulet of Colebrook; three stepdaughters, Bonnie Cotter, Brenda Reed and Beverlee Weisshaar, all of Nashua; two stepsons, Bruce Merrill of Nashua and Staff Sgt. Benjamin Merrill, stationed in South Carolina and presently serving in Saudi Arabia; and several grandchildren, step-grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. The Davis Funeral Home in Nashua is in charge of arrangements.
