SMYRNA – Catherine Ware Cassey-Ashton of Smyrna died of heart failure Thursday, Dec. 23, 1999, in the Delaware Home and Hospital for the Chronically Ill, Smyrna. She was 86. Mrs. Cassey-Ashton was born Nov. 13, 1913, in Camden, the daughter of the late Edward and Annie Ware. She retired from International Latex Corp. of Dover, where she worked as a line worker and floor supervisor. Mrs. Cassey-Ashton was a member of the Lebanon Wesleyan Church and Victory Chapter 15, Order of the Eastern Star. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Joseph T. Cassey; and a daughter, Charlette Hathaway. She is survived by her husband, Ira Ashton of Smyrna; a son, Joseph T. Cassey III of Milford; a daughter, Jeannette St. Sauveur of Dover; 10 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; and numerous nephews and nieces. Service will be 1 p.m. Monday at Torbert Funeral Chapel, 61 S. Bradford St., Dover, where friends may call one hour prior to the service. Burial will be in Sharon Hills Memorial Park, Dover.
