Margaret Mary Weir Ware Obituary, 2006

Margaret Mary Weir Ware, 89, of the Village at Robinwood in Hagerstown, Md., and previously of Silver Spring, Md., passed away Wednesday, Sept. 20, 2006, at Ravenwood Lutheran Village Nursing Care Center. She was born Oct. 23, 1916, in Glasgow, Scotland. On April 1, 1929, she arrived in Boston Harbor, and soon became the adopted daughter of the late Charles and Elizabeth Weir of Quincy, Mass. She was preceded in death in 1992 by her husband of 51 years, Arthur Russell Ware, whom she married June 27, 1941. She was a member of the Church of the Holy Trinity United Church of Christ, where she attended the Adult Bible Study Class. Margaret graduated from Quincy High School, attended Bryant and Stratton Business School and was employed by Northeastern University in Boston until her marriage. She was an avid reader, enjoyed knitting and other forms of handwork, and was a formidable participant in Robinwood’s bingo games. When she lived in Pennsylvania, she was a volunteer with the Adult Literacy Program. Margaret is survived by her sister, Helen Aitken of West Kilbride, Scotland. She also is survived by two sons, Charles Ware and wife, Barbara (Wainwright), of Hagerstown, and Arthur Ware and wife, Leona, of California; five grandchildren, Russell Ware, Diane Jennings, Cameron Ware, Shelley Ware and Colin Ware; and five great-grandchildren, Arthur Jennings, Joshua Jennings, Zachary Jennings, Kevin Jennings and Raina Ware. Services will be Tuesday at 10 a.m. at the Church of the Holy Trinity, 17805 Oak Ridge Drive, Hagerstown. The Rev. Timothy Leighton will officiate. Burial will be at 2 p.m. in Quantico National Cemetery, 18424 Joplin Road (Route 619), Triangle, Va. The family will receive friends Monday from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. at Minnich Funeral Home, 415 E. Wilson Blvd., Hagerstown. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Muscular Dystrophy Association, National Headquarters, 3300 E. Sunrise Drive, Tucson, AZ 85718.
