Viljo J. Ware Obituary, 2006

Viljo J. Ware, ”Joe” to his family and friends, 81, of Elk River, formerly of Cloquet and Esko, died Thursday, March 30, 2006 in Crystal Care Center, Crystal, Minn. He was born Oct. 10, 1924 in Esko, the son of Frank and Lydia (Huhtala) Ware. Joe married Frances Nikstad on July 3, 1948 in Duluth. Joe was a graduate of Iowa State University in Ames, Iowa and served as an ensign in the United States Navy during World War II. He was employed for many years at US Steel in Duluth, retiring as a plant supervisor. Joe enjoyed his hobby of gardening. He was preceded in death by a sister, Verna Maunu Smith. Joe will be deeply missed by his wife of 57 years, Frances, of Elk River; his daughter, Valerie (Craig) Barnes of Maple Grove; two grandchildren, Stacey and Joe Barnes; a nephew, Ron Maunu and many other relatives and friends. VISITATION: 12 noon until the 1 p.m. funeral service, Tuesday, April 4, 2006 in Northland Funeral Home, 801 14th Street, Cloquet. Interment will be in Greenwood Cemetery, Superior, Wis.
