Donald Charles Ware Obituary, 2004

MANCHESTER — Donald Charles Ware, 89, of Manchester died Sunday, Sept. 26, 2004, at Augusta Rehabilitation Center in Augusta. He was born in Augusta on June 24, 1915, the son of Charles N. and Alice (Woodcock) Ware, stepson of Henry Pease. Donald attended Longfellow (Manchester) School, North Augusta School and Cony High School. He married Louise Gay on Aug. 11, 1934. He was employed by the state of Maine and Bath Iron Works, and retired after 31 years from Statler Tissue. He was a member of the Manchester Community Church and Bethlehem Masonic Lodge in Augusta. He enjoyed his home on Cobbossee Lake, telling stories, camping and lovingly teasing his grandchildren. Donald was predeceased by his wife; two brothers, Stanley and Maurice Ware; son-in-law Richard W. Taylor; and half brother Lee Ware. He is survived by his son, Donald C. Ware Jr. and his wife, Thelma, of Manchester; his daughter, Judith Taylor of Littleton, Mass.; his grandchildren, Pamela Ouellette and husband Danny of Manchester, Richard Taylor and wife Sherry, Thomas Taylor and wife Laurie, all of Littleton, Mass., David Ware and wife Patricia of Phoenix, Ariz., Steve Ware and wife Margie of Readfield, and Donald Taylor and wife Katherine of Readfield; great-grandchildren David, Kimberly and Daniel Ouellette of Manchester, Bethanie, Thomas, Casey, Robin and Rachel Taylor of Littleton, Darren Ware of Phoenix, and Christine, Natalie and Nikolas Ware of Readfield; stepgreat-grandchildren Robert Sparrow and Christina Shenette; several nieces and nephews; and his loyal dog, Tammy. Relatives and friends are invited to visit from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Knowlton & Hewins Funeral Home, 1 Church St., Augusta. Interment and committal prayers will be offered at noon Thursday at Manchester Forks Cemetery, followed by a celebration of Donald’s life at 1 p.m. at Manchester Community Church, Route 17, Manchester.
