Born June 8, 1938, in Keokuk, she was the daughter of Anthony G. and Hazel Marie Singleton Mitchell, Sr. She graduated from Fort Madison High School in 1956. She worked at DuPont, retiring in 1997 after 15 years. She was a member of Second Baptist Church and served on the board of trustees. She enjoyed playing piano, was a die-hard Cubs fan and enjoyed bowling and bingo. She was a former member of Fort Madison Optimist Club. Survivors include one son, Harvey Turner Jr. of Iowa City; three daughters, Harvetta Asamoah of Gaithersburg, Md., Delisa Turner of Jacksonville, Fla., and Janice Haywood of Bowling Brook, Ill.; one sister, Frances Donaldson of Des Moines; one half-brother, Harry Stewart of Des Moines; three grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers. Friends may call after 1 p.m. Tuesday at Barr Memorial Chapel, where family will meet with friends from 6:30 to 8 p.m. The funeral service for Ms. Ware will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Second Baptist Church in Fort Madison, with the Rev. Harold Davis Jr. officiating. Burial will be in Oakland Cemetery, Fort Madison. A memorial has been established.
