John Kenneth “Ken” Ware, 84, of Cuba City, died Wednesday, July 18, 2012, at Southwest Health Center Nursing Home, Cuba City. Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, July 21, at St. Rose of Lima Church, Cuba City, with the Rev. David Flanagan officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday, July 20, at Casey Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Cuba City, where the parish wake service will be at 3:45 p.m. Ken was born on Aug. 2, 1927, in Elizabeth, Ill., son of John and Cecilia (Keleher) Ware. He married Ora M. Fox at St. Rose of Lima Church in 1953; she preceded him in death on Feb. 1, 2000. He served in the Army during the Korean War and was an insurance agent for many years. Ken loved to play golf and was known for his good humor and wit. He was a member of Cole Acres Country Club, where he did a lot of the work with the flowers during the early years it was open. Ken was a very good father. Surviving are a daughter, Mary Theresa Ware, of Cresco; a son, Rick Ware; two sisters, Patricia Geier, of Des Moines, and JoAnne Ware, of Greenfield; and a brother, Larry (Doris) Ware, of Surprise, Ariz. He also was preceded in death by a sister, Jeannette “Jan” Wedig, and a brother, Louis “Lloyd” Ware. Online condolences for the family may be left at www.caseyfuneralhome.net.
