Katherine Ware, 60, of Gardiner died Monday at her daughter’s home at Munjoy South in Portland. She was born in Portland, a daughter of Robert and Annabelle Seavey Logan, and attended Portland schools. She was a foster parent for many years, caring for many children. Mrs. Ware built her own home here, which took her three years. She enjoyed gardening. Her husband, Donald E. Sr., and two sons, Donald E. Jr. and Lionel Ware, died previously. Surviving are two daughters, Katherine Richards of Portland and Colleen Foss of Gorham; two sons, Danny Ware of Gardiner and Lance Ware of Portland; two sisters, Bernice Mooers of Portland and Hope Whitlatch of Michigan; five brothers, Skip of Massachusetts, Bill of Gorham, Lance of Westbrook and Frank Logan of South Portland, and Lester Pleau of South Portland; 11 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. A funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Hay & Peabody, 749 Congress St., Portland. Burial will follow at 1 p.m. in Maple Grove Extension Cemetery, Randolph.
