Evelyn Ware, 70, a 41 year resident of Aberdeen, was called home by the Lord on April 16, 2010, at Community Hospital in Aberdeen, Washington. She was born October 23, 1939, in Guntersville, Alabama, to Robert and Pearl Buchanan. In 1960 she moved to Tonawanda, New York, where she married Charles Coker Jr. in 1962. He passed away in 1964. She later married William (Ted) Ware in 1967, and moved to Aberdeen in 1969.
Evelyn grew up picking cotton in the cotton fields of Alabama. She worked as a waitress in New York, and waitressed and cooked in Aberdeen at the Wirta and at Swansons for over 25 years.
She is survived by her husband Ted of 43 years; two sons, Charles (Patty) Coker III, Aberdeen and Jeffrey Ware, Hoquiam; daughter Barbara Torres, Centralia; brothers, Robert Buchanan Jr., New York, James Buchanan and Donald Buchanan, both of Alabama; sisters, Frances Byram, Patsy Smith, Betty Vaughn and Thelma Staggs, all of Alabama; ten grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Edward Buchanan.
A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 am Monday, April 26, 2010, at the United Christian Church, 300 W. First St., Aberdeen. A Celebration of Life Potluck will follow at the Aberdeen Eagles at 1:00 pm.
