NEWBERRY – Funeral services for Mrs. Lula R. Ware, age 101, will be conducted on Friday, Aug. 21, 2009, at 11 a.m. at Miller Chapel A.M.E. Church. Burial will follow in St. Matthew A.M.E. Church cemetery.

Mrs. Ware died Tuesday, Aug. 18, 2009, at Newberry County Memorial Hospital. Born in Newberry County, she was the daughter of the late Robert and Viola Hunter Rutherford. She was a faithful member of Miller Chapel A.M.E. Church where she was a member of Class #6.

Surviving are two granddaughters, Michele (James) Grace of Winston-Salem, N.C.; Autholene Thomas-Smith of Yonkers, N.Y.; four great-grandsons, a host of great-great-grandchildren; devoted cousins, Wayne (Jean) Pratt of Newberry; Marlene O’Bryant Seabrook of Charleston and James “Duke” (Doretha) Hunter of Detroit, Mich. and a host of loving relatives and friends.
