Carroll Wallace Ware, Jr., age 78 of Rockwood, died February 1, 2011 at Oakwood Southshore Medical Center in Trenton.
Friends may call from 1 pm until 9 pm Tuesday at the Ford Chapel-Martenson Family of Funeral Homes, 23620 N. Huron River Dr., Rockwood where funeral services will be at 12 noon Wednesday. Burial will be in Michigan Memorial Park.
Born December 27, 1932 in Detroit, Carroll was the son of Carroll & Lydia (Forgash) Ware. He married Elfriede Kleiner on April 23, 1954 in Windsor, Ontario, Canada. Sadly she preceded him in death August 8, 2010.
An Army Veteran from 1951 through 1953, Carroll was stationed in Germany, where he would meet his future wife.
Carroll had several passions in life. All throughout his life he enjoyed golf, starting out as a caddy at age 14, and then playing golf all over the United States for his enjoyment, as did his wife playing on local couples teams. Carroll enjoyed bowling and shooting pool, but was best at painting pictures. Carroll was a coin collector collecting gold and silver coins.
Carroll’s work career was fulfilling. After his military service, Carroll worked in the family Stone Business, cutting stone for homes and erecting Field Stone Fireplaces, ending his career in Building Maintenance at Hunter Elementary School, retiring in 1997 after 23 years of service.
Carroll is survived by three daughters: Veronica (Abraham) Tokier of Palm Springs, California, Angela (Mark) Hengel of Vista, California and Barbara (Scott) Ware of Detroit. He is also survived by two brothers: Robert Ware of Gibraltar, David (Betty) Ware of Lincoln Park; two sisters: Margaret (Robert) Doke of Clare and Shirley (Mike) West of Mesa, Arizona as well as a grandson Mathew Hengel.
