Edith May Ware Longman, 77, a former resident of the Petoskey area, died of heart failure on Saturday, Dec. 16, 2006, in Olympia, Wash.
Edith was born on May 10, 1929, to Robert C. and Opal M. (Fox) Ware in Dayton, Ohio.
She married Robert A. Longman on June 10, 1950, in Dayton. The Longmans lived in the Petoskey area from 1960 to 1989 and moved to Olympia, Wash., in 1989.
Edith was a secretary with the Michigan State University Cooperative Extension Service until retirement in 1981.
She enjoyed baking, cooking, gardening, mushrooming, reading and spending time with her family and friends.
Survivors include her sons, Robert Longman Jr. of Olympia, Wash., and Dave Longman of Petoskey; her grandsons, Caleb Longman of Columbus, Ohio, and Daniel Longman of Petoskey; a brother, Doyle Ware, of Dayton, Ohio; a sister, Ruth Barrett, of Aurora, Ind.; three nieces and seven nephews.
Edith was preceded in death by her husband, Robert A. Longman Sr.; a son, Gary Lee Longman; and a sister, Lois Nelson.
