
Pauline Ware-Yonkey, 85, of Freeland, passed away unexpectedly Friday afternoon, March 15, 2013. She was born the daughter of the late Charles and Frieda (Lucke) Gittens, April 23, 1927 in Pinconning and had resided in this area all her life. She worked and retired from Saginaw Township Schools after 20+ years of teaching, mostly at Sherwood Elementary School. She was an avid reader and loved quilting and golfing. Pauline is survived by her husband, Albert E.Ware; two children, Martin (Mary) Yonkey and Frieda (Dan) Hanley; 16 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; three stepchildren, Leon Yonkey, David (Susan) Ware and Kathy (Peter) Groschner; four sisters, Martha Moore, Irene Bernard, Ila McKinstry and June Yonkey; and many nieces and nephews. She was also preceded in death by her first husband, Gustave Yonkey; granddaughter, KristaYonkey; stepson, Butch; and stepdaughter in-law, Shelby Yonkey. Funeral services will be held 11 a.m., Friday March 22, 2013, at Christ United Methodist Church, 4267 S. 2 Mile Rd., Bay City. The Rev. Carol Blair-Bouse will officiate. Committal services will take place 2 p.m., at the Floral Gardens Cemetery Chapel. Pauline’s family will receive friends at the Auburn Chapel of the Cunningham-Taylor Funeral Homes, Inc. on Thursday from 4-8 p.m. On Friday morning, Pauline will lie in state at the church from 10 a.m. until time of service. In lieu of flowers, envelopes for Cystic Fibrosis and Multiple Sclerosis Foundations will be available at the funeral home.
