William L. Ware Obituary, 2008

age 82, died Wednesday, October 22, 2008, of cancer at Beaumont Hospital. He was born in Anniston, Alabama. He is survived by his wife, Mary; his first wife, Lula; children, William Jr., June LaGreen, Douglas Clay and Joan; eight grandchildren; and four great grandchildren. Mr. Ware moved from Anniston to Joliet, Illinois, at the age of 12, and then shortly after moved to Detroit. He served in the U.S. Navy in WWII as a cook, and was honorably discharged in 1946. Mr. Ware worked for the Post Office, then for the City of Detroit, as an engineer, from the DSA to the DIA, and many departments in between. He retired after 37 years and spent his time in the sports program for the city. He traveled all over the country swimming and winning medals. Other interests of his were gardening and playing the guitar. Mr. Ware belonged to the V.F.W. Post 2233. His wishes were to be cremated.
