Bob Ware Obituary, 2009






Bob Ware, 88, of Auburn, California died May 29, 2009. Bob was born July 9, 1920 in Hibbing, Minnesota, the son of the late Ward and Marie Ware. He was one of three boys and husband to Lena Katherine Crowley for 63 years. He graduated from Santa Clara High School in June 1939 and worked as a welder in a shipyard during the beginning of World War II where upon he subsequently served three-and-a-half years in the Army before being honorably discharged in the spring of 1946.
Bob traveled as a salesman for the Jacuzzi Pump Company throughout California and Southern Oregon until entering a private partnership pump business in 1948. He also worked as a salesman for Kaufman Milling Company selling dairy and cattle feed until 1952. In the ensuing eight years, he was employed by Producers Market Milk Association of Central Coast Counties. He also served as the secretary/manager for the Dairy Association of Oakland covering 24 Northern California counties. In the latter part of 1958 he resigned from the board and entered the importing business remaining there until 1986. His retail store “The Importer” in Santa Clara, Calif., thrived for 25 years. He was a born sales man throughout his career vending pumps, milking machines, dairy feed, pizza, chinchillas, and finally, imported goods. Associated with his international business activities,he journeyed to the Philippines, Africa, Japan, China, and Taiwan. Bob married Lena on March 17, 1946 at St. Bernadine Catholic Church in San Bernardino. Together in their married life they moved 21 times finally settling to raise their family in the Morgan Hill area. They retired to Portola, California in 1989 and then moved to Auburn in 1997. In his retirement Bob enjoyed golfing, bowling, and card playing with his many friends and neighbors.
He is survived by his wife, Lena, and their six children and spouses: Dennis and Mariann Ware; Paul and Priscila Ware; Mike Ware; Gordon and Cindy Ware; Kathy and Tim Sugishita; Kelly and Marc Hassell-Cramer, and their families, comprising 24 grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren; brother and sister-in-law, Bud and Betty Ware of Napa; and, cousin, Jean Henry of Auburn.
Services to be held on Saturday, June 6, 2009 at Saint Teresa of Avila Catholic Church, 11600 Atwood Road, Auburn, California 95603 at 11 a.m. Reception immediately following in the parish hall. A military interment will be held on Monday June 8, 2009 at 1 p.m. at the San Joaquin Valley National Cemetery, 32053 West McCabe Road., Gustine, CA 95322. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to a charity of your choice in Bob’s name.
