Herschel Ware Obituary
Mr. Herschel L. Ware, age 93 of Jackson, TN, passed away on June 6, 2013 at West Tennessee Transitional Care in Jackson, TN.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, June 8, 2013 at 3 p.m., in the North Chapel of George A. Smith and Sons. Interment will follow in Highland Memorial Gardens.

Born September 1, 1919 in Fruitland, TN, son of the late Tyree Anderson Ware and Irene Boswell Ware. Mr. Ware moved to Jackson at age 13 and was educated in Jackson public schools. He owned and operated a service station for several years, and later became a distributor for American Oil Company. He was a real estate agent for several years before retiring.

Mr. Ware was preceded in death by his loving wife, Joyce Rutledge Ware, to whom he was married for over 66 years; his twin brother, Harold Ware, killed in World War II, and his sister, Dorothy Ware Jackson.

Mr. Ware is survived by four children, Herschel Jr. “Buddy” (wife, Sylvia) of Franklin, TN, Michael (Diane) of Cordova, TN, Harold (Denise) of Memphis, TN, Ginger Burks (husband, T.J.) of Knoxville, TN; eight grandchildren, Allen Ware of Arlington, TN, Rusty Ware of Murfreesboro, TN, Brad Ware of Knoxville, TN, Abbie Williams of Memphis, TN, Matthew Ware of Memphis, William Ware of Memphis, Tommy Burks of Cabot, AR, Nathan Burks of Ft. Walton, FL; one step granddaughter, Tonya Gapp of Pontotoc, MS; three step grandsons, Bill Tubbs of Horn Lake, MS, Rev. Todd Brady of Jackson, TN and Trey Brady of Olive Branch, MS; and nineteen great-grandchildren and a host of loving nieces and nephews.

Mr. Ware was an active and devoted member of First Baptist Church since December 1932. He was a member of the Jackson Masonic Lodge 45 (Scottish Rite 32nd degree), Al Chymia Shrine Temple in Memphis and the Jackson Shrine Club. He was also a dedicated volunteer to the Jackson Animal Shelter.

The family will receive friends on Saturday, June 8, 2013 from 1 p.m. – 3 p.m. at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to First Baptist Church of Jackson in Mr. Herschel’s memory.
