Merson N. Ware, 81, of Battle Creek passed away Thursday July 15, 2010 at Battle Creek Health System. He was born on May 11, 1929 in Battle Creek to Newman and Mabel J. (Merson) Ware. Merson attended Lakeview High School. He was employed at Taskers’ Drug Store before entering in the U.S. Army, serving during the Korean Conflict. Merson was employed at Post Cereals, Kraft Foods for 37 years until he retired in 1987. Since his retirement he spent his winters at his home in Tucson, AZ. He was a member of the St. Thomas Episcopal Church, Post 25 Year Club, and American Legion Post # 54. Merson enjoyed collecting antiques and art work. He traveled world-wide throughout his life. Merson is survived by nephews, Michael (June) Ware and Kim (Deborah) Ware, sister-in-law, Ruth Ware, all of Battle Creek; 4 great nephews, 5 great nieces; and several great-great nephews and great-great nieces. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Richard and Henry Ware, and a niece Sylvia Stanton. Family will receive friends from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday July 18, 2010 at the Richard A. Henry Funeral Home where services will be held 1 p.m. Monday July 19, 2010 with The Reverend Gretchen K. Weller Rector of Emmanuel Episcopal Church, Hastings, officiating. Interment will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be given to charity of one’s choice.
