Newell E. Ware, Jr., 80, of Owego, passed away on Monday, May 10, 2010 at Robert Packer Hospital after a lengthy illness. Newell was predeceased by his parents, Newell, Sr and Thelma Sawyer Ware of Lincoln, Maine, and his brother-in-law, Keith Lowry of East Millinocket Maine. Newell is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Lorraine; son, Brian (Laurie) Ware of Milford, NH; daughters, Brenda (Steve) Rosser of Apalachin, and Kathy (Paul) Miller of Ashburn, VA; sister, Sylvia Lowry of East Millinocket, Maine; sisters-in-laws, Carolyn (Bill) Merritt of Lincoln, Maine, and Barbara Jones of Bangor, Maine; five grandchildren, Andy and Kelly Ware, Stacy (Dan) Wilkins, Rachel and Jeff Rosser; two great-grand daughters, Marissa and Arianna; and many other relatives. Newell will be sadly missed, but lovingly remembered by his family and friends. Newell was a member and Elder of the First Presbyterian Union Church in Owego. He graduated from Purdue University with a B.S. in Electrical Engineering, served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict, and worked at IBM for 32 years, retiring in 1990. Newell was a member of the Quarter Century Club and was a 40 year member of the Theosophical Society.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, May 14, 2010 at 11:00 AM at First Presbyterian Union Church, 111 Temple Street, Owego with Rev. Parrish Bridges, officiating. Family invites friends to call from 9:30 to 10:45 AM prior to the service at the church. A graveside service will be held in Lincoln, Maine in July.
