George Rickenbach Obituary, 1979

Glenwood, Sevier County — George Rickenbach, 84, died Sept. 1, 1979 in a Richfield care center. Born May 16, 1895, Glenwood, to Rudolph and Madalena Hurni Rickenbach. Married Annie Leah Ware Nov. 24, 1920, Manti LDS Temple. She died Jan. 24, 1979. Prominent Southern Utah farmer and stockman. Former board member Piute Reservoir irrigation Co. Former board member, Richfield District Bureau of Land Management. Former board member Lost Creek and Glenwood grazing associations. Veteran WW 1. Charter menber Glenwood Lions Club. Member, Glenwood Town Board, later town president 1947-54. Active member LDS Church, Sunday teacher and superintendent for many years. Teacher in high priest quorum. Bishop 1940-44. Survivors: daughter and son, Mrs. Jay (Norene) Oldroyd, Salt Lake City; R.J. Rickenbach, Richfield; six grandchildren, eight great grandchildren. Funeral services Wednesday, 1 p.m. Glenwood LDS Ward Chapel. Friends may call at Neal S. Magleby & Sons Nortuary, Richfield, after 11 a.m. on Wednesday. Burial with military honors in Richfield Cemetery.
