Lee Roy Ware Jr. Obituary, 2011

Lee Roy Ware, Jr. was born December 25, 1915 in Kansas City, Missouri and died January 11, 2011 in Anaheim, California at age 95. He moved to California in the 1940s, working at Douglas Aircraft during World War II. After the war he worked in real estate investment. He was a community leader, a Boy Scout leader, and adult Sunday school teacher at Emmanuel Baptist Church from 1983 – 1991. He was Outstanding Lion Club president 1957-1958. Mr. Ware was influential in getting the city of Hawaiian Gardens organized and incorporated and became its first mayor. After many years of service on the city council, a city park was named in his honor. Mr. Ware was preceded in death by his daughter, Margaret Ware (Atanacio) Elliot; three brothers, Bernard O., Frank Edward and Paul; and his wife, Pearl Ware. He is survived by his sister, Elizabeth Ware Kepley (Missouri); 3 grandchildren, Margie Linda (Atanacio) Haley, Daniel Atanacio II, Rennie Marie Atanacio; 11 great-grandchildren; 10 great-great-grandchildren; a stepdaughter, Jacqueline LeMoyne; 3 step grandchildren; 4 step great-grandchildren, 5 step great great-grandchildren; and 1 step great-great-great-grandchild. He loved the Lord and did his best to serve him. And he loved his family and prayed for them daily.
