Max Wayne Ware, 73, of LaGrange, died at 1:15 p.m. Nov. 18, 1998, at Good Samaritan Home in Quincy, Ill.
Funeral services for Mr. Ware will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Davis Funeral Home in LaGrange. The Rev. Donald Waterman will officiate. Burial will be at Memorial Cemetery in LaGrange with military honors by Canton-LaGrange V.F.W.
Mr. Ware was born Oct. 1, 1925, in Jamesport to John Thomas and Alma Belle Ralsback Ware.
He was married to Frances Elizabeth Waterman on Dec. 19, 1948, in Chillicothe. She preceded him in death March 15, 1997.
Survivors include two daughters, Connie Ware of Quincy and Pat Ellison of Hallsville; one grandson, Randy Ellison of Cairo; one great-grandson; and one brother, Joe Ware of Quincy.
He was preceded in death by one brother, Rex Ware; four half brothers, Roger Ware, Glade Ware, Johnson Ware and Junior Richardson; and two half sisters, Lucille Dowell and Christena Huston.
Mr. Ware was a graduate of Jamesport High School and attended Culver-Stockton College in Canton. He was foreman and supervisor for Gardner-Denver Company at the Walton and Front St. plants in Quincy, retiring in 1980 after 28 years of service. He served in the U.S. Navy Air Force during World War II.
Mr. Ware was a member of First Baptist Church of LaGrange, LaGrange Lions Club, River Valley Country Club, Quarter Century Club and bowling league for Gardner-Denver and LaGrange men’s softball team. He enjoyed camping, hunting and fishing.
Visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. with family meeting friends after 6 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Memorials may be made to First Baptist Church of LaGrange.
Pallbearers will be Carl Mason, John Rollins, Duane Ware, Bob Waterman, Jim Brown and Charlie Cunningham.
Honorary pallbearers will be Ron Howe, Wayne White and Don Sykes.
