Nova Lenor Ware (Nivens), 95, passed away at 9:14 a.m. Friday, April 8, 2011, in Overland Park, Kan. She was born Jan. 29, 1916, in Lawrence County, Mo.
Lenor was the daughter of Lewis A. Nivens and Lacy Gibson Nivens. She was a resident of Carthage for more than 50 years.
Lenor worked 10 years for Schreiber Cheese plant and seven years for The Carthage Press Circulation Department. She was a member of the First Christian Church of Carthage.
Lenor was united in marriage on May 5, 1961, to Joe B. Ware in Miami, Okla. He preceded her in death on Jan. 24, 1969.
Lenor is survived by two daughters, Donna Staats and husband, Bob, of Kansas City, Mo., and Barbara Hogard and husband, Wayne, of Davenport, Iowa; one sister, Reva Lois West of Mt. Vernon, Mo.; four grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren; three nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents and one sister, Charlotte Wood.
Services were held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, April 12, 2011, at the Ulmer Funeral Home Chapel. David Cook, Minister officiated, and Laurie Mueller, granddaughter spoke. Musical selections were “One Day at a Time” and “Because He Lives.” Pallbearers were Curtis Staats, Henry Mueller, David Hanneman, C.J. Staats, Brett Hanneman, Bradley Hanneman and Ron Hogard. Interment was in Goss Cemetery in Lawrence County.
