Ora Helen Long Ware Obituary, 2015

Ora Helen Ware, 98, of Columbia, formerly of Fayette, passed away March 6, 2015 at Boone Hospital Center in Columbia, Missouri.

Helen was born August 25, 1916 near Fayette in Howard County, Missouri. She was the daughter of the late Edgar Joel and Ora Leva Long. She married William Woodrow Ware on June 28, 1939. He preceded her in death in July of 1976.

She was a graduate of Fayette High School and lived most of her life in Howard County. She worked in sales all of her life including being an insurance agent for American Life Insurance in Boonville. After the death of her husband, she took over their farming operations including caring for her cattle until she was in her 90’s which she dearly loved. She always enjoyed being outdoors and visiting with others.

Helen was an active member of the Sharon Baptist Church for many years and later the First Baptist Church in Fayette. She had been a member of the Rebecca Lodge in Boonville and the Moose and Eagles Lodges. She and her husband had received the Balanced Farming Award and helped organize the Sharon Boosters 4-H Club.

Surviving are three children, Wayne Ware and his wife, Sandy of Dallas, Texas; Judy Wise Masterson and her husband, Jim of Chesterfield, Missouri and Darrell Ware and his wife, Audrey of LaMesa, Texas; five grandchildren; eight step-grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; fourteen step-great grandchildren and five step-great-great grandchildren.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by two infant brothers; one brother, Edgar Long; and six sisters, Madine Burnett, Lena Sartan, Dorothy Woker, Thelma Massie, Frances Snow and Vonda Whipple.

Funeral services will be held at 2: 00 p.m., Thursday, March 12, 2015 at Carr-Yager Funeral Home in Fayette with Rev. Harold Young officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service.

Interment will follow at the Fayette City Cemetery.
