Preston Lynn Ware obituary, 11933

WARE – P.L.Ware, age 82, one of the most substantial men of Miami County died at his home 1 1/2 mi. southeast of Paola, Sat. afternoon, June 10. His illness had been a lingering one extending over several years. Preston L. Ware, son of John D. and Mary Ware, was born Jan. 3, 1851, near Burlington, Ia., the eldest of seven children. He came to Kansas in 1876 and on Feb. 9, 1879, was married to Julia H. Talbot at Mediaopolis, Iowa. To them, one son, Clarence, was born. Mr. Ware united with the Presbyterian Church of Paola and on July 15, 1883, was ordained as ruling elder. He was made elder emeritus Mar. 31, 1921. Had he lived until July 15, he would have completed 50 years as elder.When Mr. Ware first came to Miami Co., he rented what is now known as the Gariety farm. The following year, he bought 80 acres and this has been the family home for 54 years. Mr. Ware was a good farmer and stock raiser. As such, he did much for the development of the county. A right thinker, he stood for the right. He could always be found prominent in movements for community development and betterment. His loyalty to his church and the practice of his religious teachings, in his daily life were attributes of the career of Preston Ware. A good man and true he was. He certainly was entitled to the esteem in which he was held. Mr. Ware is survived by his wife, his son, and one sister, Mary Adelade Ware of Paola. Funeral services were held in the First Presbyterian Church Mon. afternoon, conducted by tie pastor, Rev. Leonard N. Kent. The body bearers were James Maulin, S. W. Wallace,Bert Phillips, A.Weir, E.S. Boyd, F.0. Peiker, H. M. Hill and C. C. Hoover. Elders of the church were honorary pallbearers. Burial was in the Paola Cemetery.
