Roy D. ”Pat” Ware, 74, Brookfield, MO, died Tuesday, June 10, 1997, at Pershing Memorial Hospital. Funeral Mass will be 11 a.m. Saturday, June 14, at Immaculate Conception Church with Father Tom Duggan officiating; burial will follow at 3:30 p.m. Saturday at St. Joseph Cemetery, Pilot Grove, MO.
Contributions may be made to the Immaculate Conception Church or Pershing Home Health, and may be left at the funeral home.
Roy Duel, son of Leander Dale and Nellie Kathryn (Leach) Ware, was born March 8, 1923, in Neosho, MO. He grew up on a farm southwest of Lebanon, MO. He joined the Civilian Conservation Corps and was stationed at Pilot Grove, MO, during 1939-1940.
For the next five years he worked on a ranch in western Nebraska. In 1944 he married Corene Kempf of Pilot Grove, MO, and they were the parents of four children. He joined the Marine Corps in 1945 and was discharged in 1946. He owned and operated a hardware store along with a plumbing and heating business for 18 years in Odessa, MO. In 1972 he sold the hardware store and bought a farm in Brookfield, MO, and raised cattle.
Pat was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Robert, in 1984 ; a granddaughter; two grandsons; and a brother, Lee Ware.
Pat is survived by his wife, Corene, of the home; two daughters and sons-in-law, Patty and Jim Dorsey, of Oak Grove, MO, and Kathy and David Bayless, of Odessa, MO; a son and daughter-in-law, Richard and Ruth Ware, of Oshkosh, WI; six grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; three sisters, Mae Coffey, of Phillipsburg, MO, Wilma Myers, of Camdenton, MO, and Betty Zuller, of Home, KS; a brother, Richard Ware, of Lebanon, MO: and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
