William Derrel Ware Obituary, 2007

“Derrel” Ware of Salton Sea, CA died June 30, 2007 at home. He was 77 years old. He was born in Azusa, CA on November 6, 1929. After his discharge from the Air Force, at the rank of Sergeant, he married the love of his life, Donna Ware; they were married for 50 years until her death. Derrel was a resident of Ontario for more than 40 years and raised his family there. His true love of the outdoors lead him to go on many, many camping trips, all over the state, with his family and close friends, which were also known as the “Tin Can Beach Group.” The Group would sometimes number up to 40 people, including adults, kids and animals. His great love of animals was also well known by all. He was a Master Carpenter for over 50 years and ran two cabinet shops, H & N and Kramer Cabinets. He was also a superintendent for Crowell & Leventhal Homes, where he was well liked and respected. After he retired, Donna and Derrel moved together to Salton Sea Beach, where they were joined by close friends. They lived there for over 20 years. Derrel served on the local Salton Sea volunteer fire department for several years until his illness prevented him from working. He reached the rank of Captain. Derrel was known for his uncommon willingness to “Jump In” and help any one at there time of need, always refusing any payment in return, just a thanks, a good meal or a cookie was good enough for Derrel. Whenever he needed anyone’s help, he was quick to ask what was owed or if they liked, offered to trade labor. Many at Salton Sea Beach and people he met throughout his lifetime will miss him. He will be missed most by his family, in which he instilled his strong sense of family, honor, loyalty and integrity; this is how he lived his life and he would be proud to know that his family is carrying on those values. Derrel is survived by his two sons, Randy (Solveig) and John (Debbie); grandsons, Sean Ware and his wife Crystal, Brandon Ware, Ryan Ware, Dustin Ware and his wife Emily; great-grandsons, Camerin, Haidyn and Gage Ware; great-granddaughter, Kinsey Ware.
