Henry Long Ware Obituary, 2005

ALICEVILLE, Ala. – Henry Long Ware, 79, of Aliceville, Ala., died Oct. 22, 2005, at Pickens County Medical Center.

Graveside services will be Tuesday at 10 a.m. at Oak Grove Cemetery with the Revs. Tom Kay Jr. and Tim Lynn officiating. A memorial service will follow at 11 a.m. at First Presbyterian Church of Aliceville. Skelton Funeral Home of Reform, Ala., is in charge of the arrangements.

Mr. Ware was born Sept. 27, 1926, in Calvert, Ala., to the late George Leatherbury Ware Sr. and Birdie Geiger Meek Ware. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Aliceville, a retired manager for Huyek Felt Co. with 35 years of service and a U.S. Army veteran.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wives, Virginia Barret Ware and Alice Raye Ware; and brother, George Leatherbury Ware Jr.

He is survived by his daughter, Dianne Ware Keel of Houston; Henry B. Ware of Birmingham, Ala.; sister, Rose Marie Arrington of York, Ala.; brother, Tom Meek Ware of Gulf Shores, Ala.; three grandchildren; stepdaughters, Alice Margaret Wines of Horsham, West Sussex, England and Elizabeth Raynor of Tallahassee, Fla.; and step-grandchildren, Alan and Laura Raynor.

Bill Martin, Bobby and Mark Gilliam, Donny Sanders, Jack Sommerville, Lawrence and Lamond Lavender and Jim Park will serve as pallbearers.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to First Presbyterian Church, 324 Broad St., Aliceville, AL 35442 or Palmer Home, P.O. Box 746, Columbus, MS 39703.
