Paul B. Ware, Jr Passed away peacefully at his home in San Rafael, California on August 7, 2013. He was born January 28, 1929 in Healdsburg, California to Elsie and Paul B. Ware, Sr. A long-time resident of San Rafael, Paul graduated from SRHS in 1947 and maintained his Bulldog spirit as President of the SRHS Alumni Association for many years. Upon graduation, Paul began his 35 year career with Pacific Telephone retiring in 1985. Paul met the love of his life, Barbara Ortner in 1950. Paul was drafted into the Army in 1951 during the Korean War serving on the front lines. Prior to shipping out, they were married and have been for 62 years, a fact of which Paul was quite proud. Paul was a naturally gifted and talented “jack of all trades” who devoted himself to his wife and family. Paul was an avid outdoorsman enjoying camping, hunting and fishing, was a dedicated 49’er fan, and had hobbies too numerous to mention. He and Barbara enjoyed traveling both home and abroad. His rich life experiences and their adventures are the source of many interesting stories. Paul will be remembered as an honorable man, for his sense of humor, for his generosity, and his easy affable way. He enriched the lives of most everyone he knew and met. Paul is survived by his wife Barbara, sister Patsy Lou Affonso (George) of Petaluma, his three daughters Karen (John) Holtman of Windsor, Suzan (Myles) Crandall of Pleasanton, Janet (Rip) Klain of Santa Rosa, along with seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. A remembrance celebration is scheduled on Monday, August 26th at 3:00 p.m. at Deer Park Villa, 367 Bolinas Rd., Fairfax, Ca 94930. The family wants to express our deepest gratitude to Hospice By The Bay for their support during Paul’s final stages of Parkinson’s Disease and, in lieu of flowers, suggests donations to this organization.
