Roberta Martha Ware, 89, of Sonora died Saturday at Sonora Community Hospital.
Mrs. Ware was a native of Oakland and had lived in Sonora 24 years. She had owned a beauty shop in San Francisco; previously worked as a manager for both Macy’s and Liberty stores; was a night auditor for the Sonora Inn; and was a secretary for Bear Valley Ski Resort, the law office of Tom Marovich and Sonora Yard Goods & House of Gifts. She also was an extra for movies made in Tuolumne County. She was a member of Tuolumne County Historical Society for more than 17 years and received the Wheelhorse Award in the 1980s, and worked at the Tuolumne County Museum and the Genealogy Society. She also was a Columbia State Park docent and a member of Docents Teachers Association.
She is survived by her daughter, Diane Newington of Columbia; and two grandchildren.
