RICHARD M. “DICK” WARE, 85, of West Hamlin, W.Va., passed away Tuesday, Jan. 28, 2003, at Morris Memorial Nursing Home. Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday, Jan. 31, 2003, at the Wallace Funeral Home and Chapel by Pastor Bill Cassady and Pastor David Vickers. Burial will be in White Chapel Memorial Gardens. He was born Dec. 2, 1917, in Webster Springs, W.Va., a son of the late J.D. Ware and Lucy Arthur Ware. He graduated from Fairmont State College and received his Master’s Degree at Marshall University. He started teaching and coaching at Webster Springs High School. He also coached at Hinton High School, White Sulphur Springs High School, Guyan Valley High School, Barboursville High School and South Charleston High School. He was an assistant coach at West Virginia University and he taught and coached at Point Pleasant High School. He is survived by his wife, Vennelda Fortney Ware; two sons and daughters-in-law, Joseph J. and Judith Ware of West Hamlin, and Roderick and Sherri Ware of Mingo Junction, Ohio; five grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. Friends may call from 6 to 9 p.m. Thursday at the Wallace Funeral Home, Barboursville. Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, 1111 Lee Street E, Charleston, WV 25301. Pallbearers will be Paul E. “Termite” Turman, Paul Adams, Nello Wilkerson, Darrell “Tadpole” Morrison, Clarence Martin and E.J. Midkiff. All other football players will be honorary pallbearers. A special thanks to the staff of Morris Memorial Nursing Home for their kindness and care.
