Dorothy Ware Hackney, 81, a resident of Cleveland, passed away Saturday, Sept. 20, 2003, in a Chattanooga hospital.
She was the daughter of the late Maggie Gibson Gee and Andrew P. Gee. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Clyde L. Ware; daughter, Patricia Ann Tippens; grandchild, Dannett Yvonne Ware; sister, Wilma Gordon; and her brothers: Wallace, Roy and Rudolph Gee.
She retired from Dr. Scholl’s with 15 years of service.
She was a member of the Corinth Baptist Church.
Survivors include her husband, Robert Hackney; daughter, Karen Reneé Hughes and her husband Donnie; sons: David Ware and his wife Sadie, all of Cleveland, Larry Ware and his wife Louise of Lexington, Ky., and Terry Ware and his wife Carmen Mendez of Jacksonville, Fla.; grandchildren: Tim Ware, John Mark Ware, Timothy Gene Ware, Larry James Ware, Tina Ware, Kathleen Clingan, Kevin Tippens, Shane Ware, Tammy Willis, Kristopher Ware, Michael Hughes, Jennifer Roe, Cristy Ward and Candi Hughes; 21 great-grandchildren; sisters: Dania Parker and Betty Young, both of Cleveland, and Inez Gee of Texas; her longtime friend, Eunice Kerr of Cleveland; and many other friends, nieces and nephews.
The funeral will be conducted today, Sept. 23, 2003, at 2 p.m. from the Wildwood Avenue Chapel of the Jim Rush Funeral Homes with the Revs. Terry Taggert and Larry Chastain officiating. Interment will follow in the Hilcrest Memorial Gardens with Tim Ware, John Mark Ware, Michael Hughes, Shane Ware, Kristopher Ware, Jerry Hackney, Tim Tippens, Jim Cone and Edward Ward serving as pallbearers.
