Mrs. Joan Farr Ware, age 80, of Rome, went home to be with her Lord on Wednesday, March 4, 2015.
Mrs. Ware was born in Floyd County on April 17, 1934, daughter of the late Rev. Wofford Farr and the late Cleo Mathis Farr. She was also preceded in death by her brother, Richard “Dick” Farr. Joanie, as she was affectionately known by her friends and family, was employed for several years with West Point Pepperell Manufacturing Co. in Lindale. An accomplished floral designer, she later opened and operated Flower Box Florist in Lindale for a number of years. She was a long time member of First Baptist Church in Lindale where she taught Sunday School for many years, led G.A.’s and Y.M.A.’s, and was a soprano in the Church Choir, and later in the “Joyful Hearts” Choir.
Survivors include her husband of nearly 60 years, James Clifford “Bub” Ware, to whom she married on April 1, 1955; a son, Dr. J. Michael Ware, and his wife Kathy, Rome; 3 grandchildren, Ashley Ware Anglin, and her husband, Justin, Rome, Zack Ware, Granby, CO, and Meagan Ware, Atlanta; a great grandson, Sullivan Anglin, Rome, 3 step-grandchildren, Jessica Dowdy, Carrollton, Kaitlyn Dowdy, Rome, and Hunter Dowdy, Rome; a sister-in-law, Faye Mintz, Silver Creek; the mother of her grandchildren, Pam Petroski Ware, Rome; nieces and nephews also survive.
A celebration of her life will be held on Sunday, March 8, 2015, at 3 p.m. at First Baptist Church of Lindale. Her Pastor, the Rev. Tim Burnham and her former Pastor, Dr. Benny Garner will officiate with her cousin, Barry Henderson delivering the eulogy. Private interment will follow on Monday in Sunset Memorial Gardens.
The family will receive friends at Henderson & Sons Funeral Home, South Chapel, on Saturday from 4 until 6 p.m.
