In the name of God amen I William Ware of the county of Pittsylvania Virginia being in perfect health and of sound mind and memory do make and ordain this my last will and testament in manner & form following viz, Item 1st I give and bequeath to my Daughter Susanna H. Harrison one negro Woman Sarah one Girl Charity one Boy Ellis and one Boy (?). Also horse Saddle & Bridle one feather bed & furniture one Cow & Calf all which she has received to her and her heirs forever Item 2 I give and bequeath to my Daughter Ann P. Richardson one harness one feather bed and furniture one bureau all of which she has rec’ d to her and her heirs forever Item 3d I give and bequeath to my Daughter Eliza (Sergant?) one Woman (?) one Girl Isbell one boy Peter & one Boy Abraham one Horse Saddle & bridle one feather bed and furniture one cow & Calf all of which she has received to her & her heirs forever Item 4th I give and bequeath to my Daughter Agnes P. Depuy (?) one Woman Judah one Girl Delcy one boy Ned & girl Ally one horse Saddle & bridle one feather bed & furniture & Cow & Calf all of which she has rec’d to her & her heirs forever – Item 5th I give & bequeath to my Son John Ware one negro man Joe & one man Philip one Horse Saddle and bridle one bed & furniture also three thousand five hundred Dollars in Lue of the land I sold Chas. Bruce also one cow & Calf all of which he has received to him & his heirs forever Item 6th I give and bequeath to my son Ro. P. Ware one negro man Chas one boy Nat one horse Saddle & Bridle one bed & furniture and one cow & Calf also three thousand five hundred Dollars in Lue of the Land I sold Chas. Bruce all of which he has received to him & his heirs forever Item 7th I Give & Bequeath to my son William Ware one negro man Rubin one Woman Army and Increase. One horse Saddle & Bridle one bed & furniture one cow & Calf also the tract of and whereon I now live with forty acres on the south side of Dan River called Stublefields (?) fishing place to take possession after my decease to him & his heirs forever The remainder of my estate consisting of Eleven negroes Stock crop household and kitchen furniture & also one half of the Casay(?) tract of land to be equally divided among my seven remaining children except Susanna H. Harrison part that I lone to her during her natural life and then to descend to the heirs of her body and lastly I appoint my Sons Jno. Ware Ro. P Ware & William Ware my Executors to this my last Will & testament hereby revoking all former Wills made by me In witness whereunto I set my hand & seal this 12th October 1827

At the Court held for Pittsylvania County the 16th day of June 1828 This last Will and testament of William Ware Dec’d was proved by the oaths of Edmond W. Luck and George Craghead two subscribing Witnesses and ordered to be recorded. And on the motion of John Ware one of the Executors in said will named who made oath to the same and together with George Adams and Robert P. Ware his sureties entered into and acknowledged their bond in the penalty of $30.000 conditioned as the law directs Certificate is granted him for obtaining a probate of the said Will in due form Liberty being reserved to the other Executors named in the said Will to Join in the probate when they shall think fit.

I am seeking information on Robert Harrison, son of Thomas Harrison and
Mary Jean (Pendleton) Harrison, b. 1785 in
Caswell Co. Tenn. He was considered an orphan after 1799 (age 14) when his father, Thomas Harrison, (Major in Rev. War for NC) died. His mother Mary (Jean) Pendleton Harrison died in 1803.
Robert became close to his older brother, John Pendleton Harrison, and lived with him ( by 1810 census of Caswell County, NC. It is belived Robert
married Frances Elizabeth Dudley, daughtr of Col. Guilford Dudley in
Fayetteville, NC. in 1811. Robert and
Frances lived in Bedford Co. after their
marriage and until 1833.
Is this a possible time for the examination of Susanna Payne Ware, done
in Tennessee? Could this be the Robert
Harrison, son of Thomas Harrison, and
grandson of Andrew Harison and Jane Dillard Harrison of Goochland Co. VA and
Orange Co. NC ?
Please let me know if possible, to
show Robert Harrison’s living in Tennessee at that time.

Dear Mary, thanks for the questions and the opportunity of trying to solve this mystery for you. The Harrison and the Wares lived in Goochland and Pittsylvania counties of Virginia. William Ware’s mother was Anne Harrison, and his first wife was his cousin, Susannah Harrison. She died shortly after the birth of their first child, also named for her mother. If you take a look at New Nation/New Land written by Judy Ware, you will find that death-bed statement. I know a lady from that line and I will contact her for her help. Also, you might try getting in touch with the Caswell Co. Family Association. The moderator is Rick Fredericks. You must be invited to view information, but I believe they also have a tree posted on Rootsweb. I also have some information about the Paynes, Harrisons and Wares. I cannot get to it right now as I am on my way to work, but I will look at it tonight. Regarding Susannah Payne; to my knowledge, though we don’t have a death date for her, I don’t believe she went to to Tennessee. Some of her children went to southern Kentucky and lived in Todd and Christian counties. Her one son William, my great-great-uncle lived very near the Tennessee border. He died at his brother’s farm, (that of my great-great-grandfather Robert Payne Ware), 7days after Robert. I am also planning a trip to the local Mormon Family History Library next week to look for more information regarding Goochland and Pittsylvania counties.
