Callie B. Ware Obituary, 1949

“Mrs. S.F. Ware, aged 74, died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. George Shelton near Chuckey, Thursday morning at 11:30 a.m.

She is survived by five childern, Jerome and Walter Ware of Greeneville, Howard Ware of Chuckey, Mrs. George Shelton of Chuckey and Mrs. Lacy Bowman of Greeneville. She also is survived by ten grandchildren, one great-grandchild; two brothers, D.A. Wilhoit of Greeneville, W.E. Wilhoit of Cleveland, Tenn., and three sisters, Mrs. S. M. Cannon of Etowah, and Mrs. E.T. Sentelle of Greeneville (here the paper makes typo they only listed two sisters). Her husband preceded her in death eight years ago.

The funeral will be held at Solomon Lutheran Church at Cove Creek Saturday afternoon at 2:30. Her pastor, the Rev. Frank L. Roof and teh Rev. Shealy will officiate.

Active pallbearers will be Lloyd Sentelle, Clyde and Cecil Wilhoit, Thurman Shanks, Orville Cannon and Gilbert Wilhoit.

Honorary pallbearers will be Dr. Ruble, Alf Southerland, Ira Carder, Lucky Bitner, Hartsell Jaynes, Albert Johnson, Gordon Jaynes, Vernie Wilhoit, Frank Renner, Joe Gibbs, J.H. Parman, Doug Fillers, Lawrence Parman, Mark Jones, Alonzo Shelton, Paul Rader, W.D. Bell, O.B. Shanks and B.C. Martin.

Flower bearers will include Mrs. Thurman Shanks, Ellamae, Naomi and Virginia Bowman, Mrs. Edward Parton, Mrs. Cecil Wilhoit, Mrs. Orville Cannon, Linda Ware, Mrs. Herman Cutshaw, Mrs. Porter Fillers, Dorothy Lee Cannon, Marilyn and Hazel Southerland and Mrs. Uyel Gray.

The body was removed today from Kiser Funeral Home to the home of Mrs. George Shelton.”
