Anchorage resident Jerry Dean Ware Sr., 56, died Oct. 26 at home. A memorial service was held Tuesday at Raspberry Road Baptist Church. A graveside service will be held Saturday at Bethel Baptist Church in Woodland, Miss. Mr. Ware was born Aug. 24, 1935, in Woodland. He served in the Army from 1958 to 1960. He moved to Anchorage in 1979 and worked for Northern Pacific Transport as an aircraft mechanic. According to his family, he never met a stranger. He was a real caring, good-hearted person who really liked people. He loved playing bingo, fishing and had bowled on a league. Mr. Ware is survived by his mother, Lorene of Woodland; his daughters, Nancy and Kathy of Anchorage and Deanna Miller of Soldotna; his son, Jerry Jr. “Bo” of Anchorage; his sisters, Betty Woolridge of Mississippi, Hazel Baughn of Woodland, Laura Johns of Houston, Miss., and Dorothy Ware of Carrollton, Ala.; his brother, Charles of Starkville, Miss.; and three grandchildren. Local arrangements were by Kehl’s Forest Lawn Mortuary and Crematory.
