CONSTANTINE, Mich. – Harry Junior “Happy Harry” Ware, 82, Roys Road, passed away Thursday at Goshen General Hospital.
He was born in Goshen, Ind., on Jan. 17, 1926, a son of Virgil John and Zelda (Spry) Ware. He attended Goshen Schools. Harry served in the U.S. Army under General Patton from 1944 to 1946, earning a Purple Heart.
On June 16, 1951, he married Freda Mae Hawn at the Messiah Lutheran Church in Constantine.
Harry worked as an auto body repairman and worked for several Ford Dealerships, starting at Paramount Ford in the 1940s, then Web Carlson Ford, Royer Ford and Scott Ford, retiring in 1989. He enjoyed fishing and hunting, especially coon hunting, and raising horses and cows. Harry loved to attend auctions and restore cars.
Surviving Harry are his wife Freda Ware; two sons, Terry (Peggy) Ware and Steve (Deborah) Ware, all of Constantine; daughter-in-law, Mary Lou Ware, Nebraska, and daughter, Dolly. Also surviving are grandchildren Angela Ware, Amy Ware, Rachelle (Cody) Caswell, Ashley Ware, Thomas Ray Ware Jr., Joshua Ware, Jeffrey Ellis, Jason (Tiffany) Ellis, and Jeremy (Christine) Ellis; great-grandchildren Haley Ware, Emily Ellis, Faith Ellis, Austin Ellis, Jeremiah Ellis; and sister, Vivian Holderbaum, Syracuse, Ind.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Tom Ware; and brothers, Cleo “Bounce” Ware and Richard Ware.
According to his wishes, cremation has taken place and memorial services will take place at a later date. Arrangements were entrusted to Eley Funeral Homes of Constantine.
