Jay W. Ware, 86, 318 E. Race St., Portland, died Saturday in the Towers Care Center in Wray, Colo.
Ware had worked as a salesman for the former Hardy Chevrolet and also was an auctioneer.
He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church and Jay Lodge No. 87 F&AM.
Born Oct. 30, 1916, in Jay County, he was the son of Lee and Gertrude (Stephenson) Ware. He was a 1934 graduate of Portland High School and served in the Army. He was married in 1941 to M. Pauline Weaver who died in 1982.
Surviving are two sons, Michael Ware, Buffalo, N.Y., Randall Ware, Wray, Colo.; one daughter, Mrs. Robert (Nancy Susan) Williams, Wray, Colo; seven grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
Services are set for 10 a.m. Thursday in the Baird-Freeman Funeral Home with Pastor Scott Solether officiating. Burial will be in Green Park Cemetery.
Friends may call at the funeral home from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday.
Memorials may be made to the First Presbyterian Church.
