Thomas Beraud Everett Ware Obituary, 2002

Thomas Beraud Everett Ware (Tom Ware) died in Opelousas on Thursday, December 19, 2002. He was born on Dixon Grove plantation, near Shuteston in St. Landry Parish, on July 9, 1904. His parents were John McKenzie Ware and his wife, Marie-Louise Dupre’ Ware.

On Friday, December 20, the Mass of Christian Burial was read by the Rev. Angelo Cremaldi, pastor of Ware’s parish church, Our Lady Queen of Angels. Tom Ware, a life-long Catholic, was buried next to his wife in the mausoleum of St. Landry Catholic Church. Pallbearers were Jim Elder, Jr., Joe Elder, Jr., Roy Elder, Matthew Simon, Bill Wallis, and James Ware, Jr.

He was preceded in death by his wife, the former Irene Elder, parents, brothers John, James and William, an sister, Marie Louise (Mrs. Herbert Grant), and most of his life-long friends. Survivors include brother-in-law James Elder, nephews Judge G. Bradford Ware, James H. Ware, Jr., and Godfrey W. Grant, and nieces Josephine W. Wallis, Marie Louise W. Anthony, Moina W. Lucent, and Marie-Louise G. Castillo, all of Louisiana except Moina Lucent, of California, and Godfreu Grant, of Michigan.

He was a graduate of Tyler School of Business in Tyler, TX. Until he retired, he had operated the Exxon bulk distribution plant in Opelousas for many years. Previously, he had served as Chief Deputy Sheriff of St. Landry Parish. He was a veteran of World War II, and, except for his time in the U.S. Army in that war, he was a lifelong resident of St. Landry Parish.
