Edwin Delmar Ware, 83, of Ankeny passed away on July 2, 2013, at Iowa Lutheran Hospital.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, July 6, 2013 at Memorial Services of Iowa funeral home (4208 N. Ankeny Blvd.).
A visitation will be held 5 to 7 p.m., Friday, July 5, 2013, also at the funeral home.
Ed was born October 28, 1929, to Delmar and Frances (Miller) Ware in Polk City, IA. He graduated from high school and entered the United States Navy. He married Beverly Gray, and during this time worked at Firestone, John Deere, and Thermogas.
In 1966 he married Shirley Wilcox. Together, they had two children, and were lifelong residents of Ankeny. Ed worked for Cory Hardware, servicing their appliances. Eventually this led to Ed operating his own service company from his home. In 1981, Ed and Shirley opened Ed Ware’s Maytag. They operated this business side by side until their retirement in 2012. Ed is survived by his wife of 47 years, Shirley; three daughters, Mary Ann (Sante) Medici, Peggy (Lovaughn) Samuels, Debbie (Dave) Hauser; two sons, Skip (Jeny) Ware, Mike (Theresa) Ware; two sisters, Dorothy Robbins and Darlene Miller; stepchildren, Bob (Sue) Kramme, Julie (Dan) Moulton, Karl (Julie) Kramme, Mark (Lorie) Kramme, Clark (Karen) Kramme; 39 grandchildren, and numerous great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters, Kathryn Smith and Lucille Perdue, and two grandchildren, Chad and Angel.
