Leo Ware

Mr. Leo Paul Ware, age 90 years, a resident of N. Brandenburg St. in Belington, WV went home to be with his Lord and savior Jesus Christ 5:28 am, Monday January 6th, 2014 in the Colonial Place nursing facility at Elkins with his loving son and daughter-in-law by his side. He had been in declining health for the past several months.

He was born April 9, 1923 at Belington, WV a son of the late Howard and Eva Pearl (Browning) Ware. On June 28, 1942 he was united in marriage at Belington to the late former June Durrett. They had celebrated 70 years of marriage, and preceded him in death on February 16, 2013.

Mr. Ware is survived by one son Gary P. Ware and wife Linda of Belington, one sister Barbara Sturm and husband Jerry of Porterwood, WV, two sisters-in-law: Dorothy Ware of Belington; and Pauline Loar of Belington, a brother-in-law George “Bert” Loar of Alliance, OH. Also surviving are several nieces and nephews and several great-nieces and great-nephews.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by one sister, Ann Loar and one brother, William Ware and his step mother, Kerm Ware whom raised Leo from the age of 4.

Mr. Ware attended the schools of Barbour County and during WWII he worked in Baltimore, MD building airplanes for the United States Armed Forces. He was formerly employed by his Uncle Ray Ware in Belington and was a former partner with Laurel Mountain Inc. in Belington. Leo was owner of Leo P. Ware and son molding and dimension mill in Belington which he operated from the early 1970’s until his retirement in 1996. There Leo worked alongside of his wife June and son Gary. He was a member of the Concord United Methodist Church near Belington and will be remembered for the great knowledge of wood working and wood working machinery. Those who knew him, loved him and will always have a special memory of him in their heart.

Friends will be received at the Talbott Funeral Home, 56 N. Brandenburg St. in Belington from 6 to 8 pm on Wednesday January 8th, 2014 and again on Thursday from 8 am to 11:00 am the funeral hour when final rites will be conducted from the funeral home chapel with Rev. James “Oz” Gray officiating. Interment will follow in the Concord Cemetery near Belington. In lieu of flowers the family asks that expressions of sympathy be made in the form of contributions to the Concord United Methodist Church c/o Brian Poling P.O. Box 231 Belington, WV 26250.
